Hello, my name is Athena!
Athena is a beautiful classic GSD girl, inside and out! She is named after the daughter of Zeus in Greek mythology. Athena was the goddess of wisdom and justice - among other things - and supposedly founded the city of Athens. We are glad she will be getting justice in that she will find just the perfect home to give her the happiness she radiates back to you, although she's had very little in her own life. Athena is a happy girl. She is friendly, loves to be loved on and petted, and will let you rub her all over. She loves people! She also seems to love other dogs and her tail wags in anticipation when she seems them. She is alert, healthy looking, has a beautiful coat, is gentle, playful, and has a lovely classic trot. She loves to play ball or frisbee, and will bring the toy back to you to tug on. If you stand quietly, she will lay the toy at your feet.
Athena has had all of her shots but needs to be spayed and is HW +. She is estimated by the vet at the shelter to be about one year old. Here's why she needs justice - Athena is missing most of her teeth. She has a few nubs in the lower front and a few back teeth, but that is all. The vet had different thoughts as to why this might have happened - very heart rending realizations. But this girl is happy anyway. She can eat about anything, catch a ball or frisbee in mid air, looks beautiful, and doesn't waste time pining for what she cannot get back. We are thrilled to be able to help this beautiful girl find a wonderful new life. This is rescue!
