Hello, my name is Cassie!
Cassie was turned in to a shelter by someone who found her starving on the street. She had intestinal problems because of advanced parasites. Her fur was thin, dry and rough. Even with a large frame she weighed only 50 pounds. An employee of the shelter was captured by her sweet personality and transported her to a vet for us, barely saving her life. Besides being skeletal, she had advanced kennel cough and was dehydrated. At first she slept most of each day and had little energy but she always wagged her tail when someone had a kind word for her. Cassie is currently at a healthy weight and her fur is becoming more plush every day. She now runs joyfully in the yard with her foster pack and plays with toys. She will chase a ball and likes to play tag. Cassie's mission in life is to love and be loved. We call her our "gentle giant" because she is a big girl who would never hurt anyone. She takes treats very softly from fingers and is careful and submissive with all people. This is a responsive dog who cares a great deal about pleasing the humans who take care of her. She comes immediately when called and bonded very quickly with her newest people. Her personality is a "soft dog" who responds quickly to a serious voice. Cassie is completely housebroken and knows some basic commands. She is heartworm negative. This sweet girl is mostly GSD with possibly a touch of golden retriever. Her one slightly floppy ear adds to her charm. She is happy to alert us to things like mail arriving with her cartoon hound dog voice. Cassie loves to go for adventures now that she is stronger and walks very nicely on a leash, even with children. She still gets tired after a hike but is quickly gaining stamina. Cassie is fantastic with kids, cats, and other dogs and rides great in the car.
