Hello, my name is Gunnar!

Hi My name is Gunnar, but you can call me Gunny.....

.....and I have a Heart of Gold.  Even my rough start in life couldn't change that.  I had no one who cared and no hope for anything better, but like so many other GSDs my life turned around when GHGSD Rescue took me in.   I now have a foster family who is helping me to BLOOM.  And bloom, I am!  How surprised everyone was to find out how smart I am.  In no time, I have learned to sit, stay, come, leave-it, down and, are you ready for this....HI-FIVE!  Can you believe that?  And just between you and me, I have a lot of other tricks inside me, just waiting for you to bring them out.

There are so many things about me that are special.  First, I am a kind of mini-me GSD.  I'm only 65 pounds and I'm full grown.  This makes me just right for situations where a 100 pound GSD is a bit too much.  Of course, I still have ALL the characteristics that make a GSD special.  I am loyal, kind, gentle, affectionate, happy, and smart.  Did I remember to tell you how smart I am?  I also have a bright, cheerful face.  And I particularly love to be cuddled and petted.  I guess that's because I missed out on it when I was younger.  My special skill is snuggling in bed.  I love kids, both large and small, and I love to play.  I will do OK with other dogs and maybe even cats but it will take some training because at times I am a little uncertain.  But I can learn...BECAUSE I'M SMART...  Did I mention, I'm smart?  Plus I really want to please, so if that's what's important to you, I will learn how to handle it.

As much as I love my foster family, its time for me to find my own forever family.  I know that's true because I have so much to give and I need to share my love.  After all, my primary goal in life is to be someone's BFF (text me!).  I'm a tender hearted guy who craves companionship.  I think a smaller family or single parent might be best for me so I don't get lost in the shuffle and my confidence can continue to build.  I would love to spend time with my forever family going to obedience and/or agility training so I can make you proud.

Plus I would love that one-on-one attention.  I am in good health and ready to go.  If you are reading this, I hope YOU are the one.
