Hi, my name is Kobe!
Are you looking for an easy-going, super loveable and obedient companion? If so, then I just might be your dog. I am a laid-back guy who enjoys the quieter moments in life. I enjoy going for walks and playing with my canine pals, but most of all, I love my people -- actually, I love ALL people. Everywhere I go people fawn all over me. I was a favorite among the volunteers at the shelter and quickly won the hearts of all of the employees at the vet clinic. Everywhere I go, people seem to fall in love with me. If you are looking for a tough guy who is going to bark at strangers, then I'm not for you. I am a lover, not a fighter (though people are usually intimidated by my "tough guy" looks). Because I love people so much, whenever someone approaches me, something really strange happens to my body. I feel this shaking sensation in my hind end -- this back and forth, back and forth, swish, swish, swish. My foster mommy tells me that I have the biggest and best tail wag she's ever seen! I can't control my backside when someone comes near me, as I get so excited because I know that I'm going to get attention! I'm such a handsome boy and most people can't resist my charm. I've also been told that I have an irresistible smile. People say that I have a sparkle in my eyes and I look so happy all of the time -- and that's because I am!!
Because I love people so much, there's nothing I enjoy more then following my person around the house and curling up at their feet. I want so desperately to be with the person that I love. If you are looking for a companion who will bond tightly with you and be your shadow, then I'm your guy. I'm very ready to bond with my forever family (so if you're them, please hurry and apply)! I get along well with everyone -- big and small children, the elderly, men, women, big dogs, little dogs and puppies. I have not been around cats, though my foster mom guesses that cats might be okay, given my easy-going temperament. No one knows exactly how old I am, though it has been guessed that I'm middle aged, around 5 or 6 years old. Don't let my age scare you off -- this only means that I'm secure and confident in who I am and that all of that unruly puppy behavior is behind me.
As you can see from my picture, I have the most beautiful soft, black shiny coat, with handsome brown legs. In GSD terms, I'm called a bi-color. My foster mom tells me this is one of the many reasons I'm so handsome! Manners are my strong-suit. I am housebroken, know how to sit and stay, and when I'm told to "kennel-up" I go right into my kennel like a good boy. When I meet new people I am a perfect gentleman, greeting them kindly and calmly, though always with a vigorous tail wag. Because of my good nature, sweet temperament and love of all people, my foster mom thinks I would make a superb therapy dog. Not only do I have good manners when it comes to people, but I have excellent doggie social skills, so I would greatly enjoy going to the dog park or other doggie outings (or even living with a doggie sibling). Wherever I go, one thing's for sure -- I always want to be with people -- especially MY person or family. I prefer to live in a calmer, moderately active home, as I'm not one of those fellows who likes to be on the go all of the time; rather, I prefer to kick back and cuddle up with my family.
I came into the rescue with a minor health issue. I had an enlarged prostate which caused me quite a bit of discomfort. After I was neutered, within a few days my problem began to resolve itself. An ultrasound was done of my prostate to make sure that there was no cancer -- and sure enough, I've been given a clean bill of health! (Just for good measure, the vet decided to scan my whole abdomen but didn't see any problems anywhere. All of my organs looked great.) From my symptoms and the ultrasound, I was diagnosed with prostitis -- an infection and swelling of the prostate. I'm just about done with my antibiotics, after which, I will have another ultrasound to ensure that the infection is completely gone. I am microchipped and current on all my vaccinations. I tested positive for heartworms, because my previous owners didn't give me that tasty once a month pill to keep me safe from the mosquitoes. I began my heartworm treatment on December 19. I will be ready to go to my forever home on January 25, after my heartworm treatment and second ultrasound are complete. So if you are looking for a calm, sweet, easy-going, extremely loveable and cuddly guy, then please fill out an application and bring me home ASAP!
