Hello, my name is Kunde!

and I am a PEOPLE GSD and I mean that on every level. I know my job is to serve, protect and love people (SP&L). I am a beautiful bi-color male GSD and I am approximately 2 years old. I am of medium stature with a thick, black, shiny coat and a very solid build. I get along well with other dogs but I love people best, particularly MY person. My devotion to people is high and my face can't help but light up with delight when I look at my person. My whole body becomes animated; my tail goes off the scale and I get frolicky. That's the "L" in SP&L.

I take my responsibilities very seriously. I get along great with children as well as adults. This is the "S" in SP&L and it’s an important part of it. I will play with children of all ages. I know to walk with them in a mannerly way and I am perfectly happy to let them drag me around by the collar. I am the perfect gentleman. I am also very responsible when I take my person for a walk. It makes me so very proud to show off my people that I can't help but hold my head up high and walk tall. I always keep them right by my side and I’m not a puller; not even to sniff the ground. And even though I have not had a lot of training, I have great instincts for good manners. As excited as I can get when I see my people, I intuitively know not to run them over or be rude and pushy with my body. I slow down and greet them with manners. It’s all part of SP&L.

Now, lets talk about the "P". I would not be a proper GSD if I didn't take my job of protecting my family seriously. So, you can probably count on me here too. When I see something suspicious, I will not hesitate to put out an alert until the danger has passed. I will make sure everyone knows there is something of concern and, when it has passed, I would really enjoy a nice petting to let me know you are okay and happy with me.

As for cats, I'm probably going to need some help here. I am not overly aggressive towards cats but I am quite curious and bark at them. When they run, I can't help but run after them as I’m not sure what they are. When they are out of sight, I’m really done with them and go back to my people. You’ll find I’m like any other GSD and have a prey drive, but it may be something you are willing to manage with me. If you have cats, as part of my SP&L, I will learn to respect them too, but will need your help, patience and commitment. We'll just have to work on those interactions together until that bond is developed.

I have a lot of spirit and energy but I am not obnoxious. I almost know "sit" but that's about all. All my other good manners are just instinct. I would really benefit with some formal obedience training. Really learning to "sit", "down", "come", "heel" and "stay" would simply polish my SP&L.

I have to say that I have a great foster family and the people at GHGSDR have been a great, but its not the same as a real forever family. I am almost ready to find my forever family. I have been neutered and will soon be starting heart-worm treatment. By the time my treatment is over, I am hoping my forever family has appeared. Then the SP&L will kick into high gear...
