Hello, my name is Queenie!
Hi, my name is Queenie and I have a secret...
.....everyone who meets me, falls in love with me. It could be because I am a beautiful black and tan German Shepherd Dog (GSD). Or it could be because I was born with a loving and gentle nature. Or maybe its just a special magic I have. Unfortunately, things weren't always as good for me as they are now. I was found wandering the streets and taken to a shelter. My interaction with people was limited and I was afraid. In spite of my fear, some good people at the shelter worked with me. In no time, they taught me to sit, shake and lay down. And likewise, in no time they fell in love with me.
And so soon I was taken in by GHGSD Rescue. On that first day I went to their vet to complete my vaccinations. Here I got another chance to work some magic. The waiting room was full of mewing kittens and other dogs. Of course, I was more than mannerly, completely ignoring the kittens. When the vet came into the exam room, I sat down and extended my paw without prompting as a grand how-do-you-do. It was too sweet and the vet was all smiles. And of course, the vet fell in love with me.
I currently live in a foster home with another dog. We get along fine, although I haven't figured out playing with toys. I have the run of the house and don't cause a bit of trouble. I don't crate very well - probably due to my background as a puppy mill dog. So if that's an important ability, we'll need some careful training on this issue. But I'm really good when left loose so maybe we can work it out. I'm generally calm and quiet and only make noise on rare occasions. At night, I quietly settle down after giving quick good night kisses. (Working my magic again!)
I've learned how to walk on a leash in a mannerly way, without pulling. I'm an expert at riding in the car. Initially, I will check out both front and back seats, then I settle in the shotgun seat to get a feel for where we are going. Once I realize my people have everything under control, I settle in the backseat. I haven't quite learned how to exit so I'll need some help with that in the future.
I'm happier now than I've ever been in my life. However, it's time for me to find my forever family and learn what real happiness is. The perfect family for me can take almost any form, because I am a gentle, sweet, loving dog that's eager to please. And I get along with everyone, adults, kids, dogs and cats. As my foster family says "someone will be very lucky to have me as a companion". (She fell in love with me, too.)
If you are reading this, maybe you are my forever person. Come visit me and let me work my magic on you.
