Hello, my name is Rinty!

HI!  My name is Rinty.  I am a very tall GSD with a beautiful coat and disposition to match.  The nice volunteer who came to the shelter to bring me into the GHGSDR program called me Rinty because she said I look like the famous and very handsome German Shepherd Rin Tin Tin.  No one ever said anything that nice to me before!  She said I also have a beautiful soul, which I won’t argue with.  All the volunteers who have met me agree.  I’m one of those dogs that can touch you way down deep and leave an everlasting imprint.  My past life was not a happy one and I never knew what it was like to be treated so kindly.  As a result I am somewhat shy and sensitive and respond best to calm, gentle tones.  Everyone at GHGSDR loves me unconditionally and they’ve all helped me to put my past behind me.  Life is about going forward and being happy.  In return for their love, I’ve been able to show them the sweetheart of a guy that I really am. 

You will find I love attention and will nudge your hand until you pet me.  I’ve also learned how to give big “hugs”, which really makes me glow both inside and out.  It is so great to see my foster mom laugh and smile when we share hugs.  You will find I love everyone and I’m not picky about who wants to love me.  To me, the “more the merrier”.  I’m learning my basic obedience commands and this will need to continue even after I find my forever home, as I am a big dog and need to always mind my manners.  I know the word “no” and respond to that very quickly.  I don’t need you to say much else.  Aren’t I the smartest?  I also enjoy the companionship of other dogs and it would be great if you already have a buddy for me.  I get along fine with both big and small dogs. 

Now that you know a little about me, I would so enjoy meeting you and your family and sharing my “big hugs".
