Hello, my name is Sadie!
Meet Sadie! She has quite a story! One night, a Houston rescuer, who we have had a great relationship with, was out driving with her husband after dark and saw this pretty German Shepherd walking down 1488 in an isolated area. They both worried about her, but couldn't stop. They continued to worry about her. A week later, driving down the same road in the evening, they saw her again on 1488 - but this time 10 -12 miles from where she had been - and she was standing in the middle of a bridge, looking even thinner. She was trying to get to pick-ups and that did it! They stopped the car, called her, and she came running! They got her into their car and took her home. She still looks for pick ups, but not as much. It's not hard to figure out what kind of vehicle she was in when she was dropped on 1488. She had no tags. The couple put up flyers, ran an ad in the local papers, listed her on Craigs List, contacted a lot of vets offices, sent out emails, and finally realized her owner didn't want her. But why?? Sadie is wonderful! Susan H. and her husband took her to their vet where they found no microchip. Susan H. paid for all of her shots and had her dewormed, although no worms were evident. Sadie has not been HW tested, but is on Heartgard and Frontline. She was extremely thin when she was found, but now is a much more healthy weight with Susan's home dog cooking and premium dog foods! Susan has been working hard at getting Sadie healthy and ready for adoption.
Sadie is thought to be between one and a half and two, and has very bright, pretty teeth with virtually no tarter. She has had a litter of pups. Her tail is beginning to fill out nicely. An aggressive dog in Susan's neighborhood ran at them, and Sadie bowed up ready to protect, but listened to Susan and did not attack against this aggressive dog. She stayed right beside Susan. Sadie will be a life-time companion for some lucky person! She gets along well with other dogs - large and small - and LOVES children! She was with children from ages 5 to 10 and was awesome with them. She has a good recall! Sadie gets vocal when you talk to her about being a good girl which Susan said is hilarious! Sadie is not a submissive dog, and can make you laugh! She is great on a leash, and even on a retractable leash she stays with your pace. She loves to go on long walks! She adores riding in a car! She likes cats a little too much, but not in a good way!
We are now taking this beautiful girl into our program and need a foster home for her. She is very easy to have around, is house broken, and is not destructive. We just kept hearing how sweet she was and how could anyone dump her this way. Maybe she had her pups so her previous owners didn't want her anymore.
Please fill out an application if you're willing to take this beautiful girl into your heart and home.
