Hello, my name is Thumper!

I’ll bet when you clicked on my picture you thought you were going to see a rabbit, right?  Well, surprise!!  It’s really me.  I am a very handsome, sable German Shepherd Dog.  Everyone who meets me can’t stop commenting on how sweet I am.  When you meet me, you will notice my tail is always in motion and, when I’m sitting down, it makes a “thump” noise.  I’ll bet you now know where my name came from (LOL)!

Anyway, enough digression – let’s get back to me talking about myself.  I was found in a shelter and I look like I was well taken care of in my past life.  My coat is beautifully shiny from my head all the way down to my “thumping”, bushy tail.  My manners are pretty good too.  I know some basic commands and respond to the word “No”. You’ll find I am housebroken and, if you have a doggy door, I already know how to use it.  I ride well in a car, and don’t mind taking the time to catch a few “zzzz’s while we are traveling.  When the trip is over, I’m happy to get out of the car and be by your side, which is where I am most comfortable.  When we are lounging together and you want to give me a good ear massage, please note you DO NOT have to ask permission.  Just do it!  I just love ear scratches.  Don’t you? When it’s bath time, I cooperate very nicely as I like looking good and I feel so much better afterwards.  But, be prepared to get a little wet too when I “shake that body”.  Playtime is a fun activity and I’m no different than any other dog.  Playing with a tennis ball is fun but my foster parents think I need to bring it back.  Was there some rule book on playing with tennis balls that I forgot to read?   If you have other animals in your house, I should do fine as I am very sociable and easy-going.  However, when you introduce me do it slowly so they don’t feel I am an intruder.  I have met cats and I seem to do well with them too.  You may hear me bark a little at them, but that’s about it.

So, have I peeked your interest in me?  I certainly hope so as I’m so anxious to meet you.  If you forget my name when you fill out the application, just say the “dog whose tail thumps a lot”.  See you soon!!
