MAGGIE
Hi there!  My name is Maggie and I’m a female American Staffordshire Terrier mix!  I’m about a year old and full grown, tipping the scales at about 50 pounds.  I might be a big girl, but I’m all wiggly love!  I’m mostly white, but I have two black ear patches and the cutest black dot right in the middle of my forehead!  I also have little black spots all over my body!  I somehow found myself at BARC, the Houston City Pound, where I sat and sat waiting for a family all of my own.  In fact, I sat there so long that my 90 days were up and I was scheduled to go into the BAD room!  Lucky for me, Lucky Leash Rescue and an awesome sponsor stepped in a saved me just in the nick of time!  I’m so happy to be out that I get a little excited sometimes!  I’m strong, but I’ve started basic obedience training and I’m doing great!  I’m learning that pulling on a leash is not a good thing and how to follow other basic commands like “sit” and “stay”, but I am still learning!  I do like to chase squirrels and go for long walks in quiet neighborhoods!   My trainer thinks I’m very smart and, most importantly, very sweet as well!  I love people and love to play! I can’t wait to find my own home, so ask about me today!  I’m spayed, micro-chipped, vaccinated, and heartworm negative!  For more information about adopting this pet, please visit our website to download and fill out our application at www.luckyleashrescue.org (under the Adoptable Pets section)!

Banshee was an indoor/outdoor girl living with an elderly woman with Alzheimers.  Another dog beat her up quite badly, with a number of serious bites, but the woman couldn't comprehend that her dog was seriously injured.  A rescuer took Banshee in and nursed her back until she could walk and run again.  Banshee needs her own loving home.  She loves people and loves to interact with her person chasing balls and soft  frisbees.  She also enjoys playing tug, and going for walks.  She is about 40 pounds and very energetic.  She is thought to be a white German Shepherd mix.

Banshee is very frisky, fun loving, and affectionate.  She is spayed and has had her shots but needs to be updated.  If you would like to know more about Banshee, write to eginden2@yahoo.com.
BANSHEE
DULIA
Dulia comes from a long blood line of German Shepherd show dogs.  Her parents and grandparents were show dogs in Germany.  I have her papers showing her geneology.  She was born Oct. of 2001 making her seven years old.  She is black and tan and weighs about 98 lbs.  She has a microchip given to her from her vet in Katy, Texas.

We have had her for seven years and she is a wonderful dog.  I can't even imagine not having her, but we have to relocate to the Philippines and can't take her with us.  The flight alone, which makes several long stops, would be too stressful.  I would like to be able to give her to a good loving home, although I am going to miss her terribly.

We bought Dulia from a breeder in Venezuela but she was actually born in Costa Rica.  She gets along beautifully with our cats but she should be the only dog.  She is loyal and loving and territorial of her space.  She is house trained and knows basic commands.  Dulia just needs a home that can give her the love & attention she thrives on.  She will be loyal and loving in return.

1. She loves to be petted and greets you at the door all excited with tail wagging as fast as          she can
2. She loves to be brushed and touched
3. Her whole purpose in life and greatest happiness is to be with you, her person
4. She has an ear tatoo from her breeder
5. If she gets hot outside after playing, she loves to stick her head in a bucket of water!
6. She's up to date on all of her shots including bordetella and is Heartworm negative and on        Heartgard Plus
7. She LOVES her ball, and squeaky toys
8. She loves to be rubbed with a towel after her bath and loves to lay and chew on her bones        from Petsmart

Thank you.  Please contact Lori Holt at 832-387-7607
HEIDI
Heidi is an 18 month old German Shepherd/Husky Mix that was abandoned with her brother.  Her brother has found a home, but Heidi is still living at a boarding kennel.  Heidi weighs 50 lbs., is spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.  Very sweet, playful and friendly dog that would be a great family dog.  A great walking partner.  Just a big love bug that wants to be at your side all the time.  She has completed a two week training program and is clicker trained.  Loves dogs of all sizes.  Good with kids.  Does not like cats.  Call Nicole at (713) 269-8539 for an application.
TERRA
Hello Everyone,

My name is Terra and I am 3-year old Female Lab-Chow mix.  I am about 35 pounds and the Vet says that I am Heartworm negative and my Fecal exam came back negative too!  While I was there she even gave me all of my shots.  I am spayed and ready to go to a forever home.

Here's what the people who rescued me know about me:

Around the end of June (remember when it was REALLY HOT?), I was lost and wandering around a commercial property near the intersection of Fry Road and Clay Road near Katy.  For two weeks, some nice people put out food and water for me twice a day, but I was too scared to come close enough for them to meet me.  Even Harris County Animal Control couldn't help out because I was so afraid that they couldn't catch me.  Luckily, these nice people have a Veternarian who came out and gave me some medicine to make me tired.  Even though that medicince made me feel really funny (they said I looked like I was drunk, whatever that means?) I still gave them quite a chase before I finally realized that they weren't going to hurt me and just gave up.

That same Veternarian took me back to her clinic and checked me out from top to bottom.  She said that all I needed was to be spayed (whatever that means?) and I would be ready to go.  After a few days, I went back to live with the family that was taking care of me when I was lost and alone.  They have A LOT of dogs and it took some time for me to get used to.  But, they have lots of food, a doggie door (which I know how to use) and, most importantly, AIR CONDITIONING!!!!

After being on my own for so long, it took a few days to understand that nobody was going to hurt me.  My new foster Mom and Dad had to put me in my place a few times, but now I'm getting along with the pack just fine.  I really enjoy my peace and quiet and prefer to find a place to lay down next to one of the humans instead of playing with the other dogs.  The one thing that I am having a hard time with is being crated.  I don't mind being alone, I just hate being confined...it makes me feel claustrophobic.  But, they have a leash for me right next to their bed and I curl right up and go to sleep when it's bedtime.

I am a quiet girl and am quite happy to find a place to lay down in whatever room you happen to be in.  I am not overly energetic and would not need you to constantly play with me or shower me with attention.  I got pretty skinny while I was on my own, so I'm still trying to gain back some weight.  I really enjoy feeding time and will even remind you that it's time to eat with a nice strong WOOF!  (I'm not being pushy....I'm just sayin')

My foster parents think that I would probably do best in a single-dog environment.  They don't know if I like cats or not (and I can't remember either).  Since I don't play much, I doubt that small children would be a good match either.  It's not that I don't like them, its just that I probably won't be the kind of dog that they want. BTW I am good with cats.

If you're looking for a quiet companion to spend time with you, then I'm your girl!  Please contact....

WALLY
My name is WALLY and I’m a playful 1 -2 yr old Shepherd mix.  I weigh around 45 lbs.  I haven’t had any accidents in my foster mom’s house and I get along well with her dogs (large & small). I like playing, running in the yard, and chewing on bones and rawhides.

I am an ACTIVE boy!  My foster mom says I am like the Energizer Bunny - I go, go, go!!!  I like to play with people and other dogs, so I need an owner who will walk me and play with me.  I am not aggressive at all with other dogs, but I love to play with them!  I am good on a leash, too!

I go into my crate when told to and I listen pretty well!  I am a young boy, after all, so I can’t ALWAYS listen, but my foster mom says I am very trainable.  I am already learning “sit” and “down” and “no”.

I am updated on my shots, de-wormed, spayed, micro-chipped, and heartworm negative.  I am updated on flea and heartworm preventative.

I have a little bit of a skin condition right now-Demodex mange, but don’t worry - is it NOT spreadable to humans or other dogs!  My nice doctor says it is due to lack of nutrition and stress at the shelter, but treatment has already been done, now I just have to wait for my beautiful coat to grow back in all the way.

Please contact my foster mom for more information about me.

Cupcake is an adorable Shepherd mix, and as sweet as they come!  Despite a very rough beginning for this young girl, she's adapted incredibly well to life in her foster home.  Only a little over a year, Cupcake is well-mannered, is learning basic commands, and walks nicely on a leash.  She lives with a foster brother and sister, and interacts very well with them, as well as all other dogs she's met.  She's also great with children and likes everyone she's met.  The groomer says she's easy to work with, from bath time to getting her teeth brushed!  This young girl is potty trained and has never had an accident indoors.  Because she's very respectful of her surroundings she's actually never been crated;  I've always come home to find things just as I've left them.  Cupcake's greatest joy comes from pleasing her person!  She is very trainable, loyal, easy-going & will make a wonderful companion.  Cupcake now weighs a healthy 44.5 lbs; she's spayed, microchipped and current on all vaccinations.  If you are interested in meeting Cupcake, please contact txcami@yahoo.com.  832-689-0458

FOUND:  WHITE GSD
I found a white female GSD about 1 month ago - zip code 77073.  She is approximately 1 year old and in very good shape - very loving and trainable.  I can't keep her, plus she belongs to somone who is missing her as we speak.  I have a small house dog and a large GSD already.  I won't let her loose until she can get a good home where somone can give her the attention she needs.  I am in the Northview subdivison between Richy Rd. and 1960.  If someone is looking for her please call Amen at 713-922-2367 or email trucknapple@yahoo.com.  Thank you.
BO
Meet Bo, a stunningly handsome 3 year old German Shepherd.  Bo is the sweetest, kindest boy. He is gentle and kind to the cats in his foster home. Bo gets along very well with other dogs. His best friend is his foster brother, a 95 lb 2 year old male Great Dane/Hound mix. His other best friend is a 100+lb male Akita. The three boys are like the Three Musketeers.  Bo also gets along well with his other friend, a 23 lb Basenji girl. Bo even helped “babysit” a 3 month old puppy.
Bo is also great with kids. He never jumps or knocks them over. He is very well behaved. Bo is completely house trained. Also, he totally knows the difference between your stuff and his, meaning he never touches anything that isn’t his.
Bo knows all his basic commands: sit, down, stay, come, and of course, shake.  He is very intelligent. Bo is very focused and attentive. He would need people who would give him a job - i.e. obedience, tracking etc. He is a wonderful boy with a great disposition.
Bo gets along very well with other dogs, but he can be reactive on the leash when another dog approaches on leash. We have worked with him on this and he is a lot better. This is only on the leash. He was at an all day event with many other dogs last weekend and behaved very well around them. He responds well to a strong but kind leader.
You have to earn Bo’s affection. He is always very sweet but a little stand offish or aloof at first. He forms a very strong bond with his people but it takes him some time. Bo LOVES to retrieve…he is never without a ball, a Kong, a cat puff toy (if he can’t find his Kong), in his mouth. He will retrieve whatever you throw, bring it back, drop it and then step back and wait for you to throw it again. If you don’t respond he gets very inventive; he will place the ball on your desk right in front of you, in the crook of your elbow (you are sure to see it then), between your back and on your chair!
Bo was rescued from BARC. He was heartworm positive and very thin.  Bo has now completed his heartworm treatment program! He has gained 20 lbs in the last three months, and currently weighs in at 90lbs. Bo is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all of his vaccinations.
If you are interested in adopting Bo, please contact Bonnie Ford at ford.bonnie@gmail.com
